FREESTANDING, Appliqué Numbers and Signs for Punctuation to make on your embroidery machine - They are my Alphabet: MY SUMMER FONT
As the numbers and signs are hand drawn by me, AND they are deliberately
NOT the exact same height or width – they are supposed to be
differently sized - as I find that more interesting than 'perfect' and same sized fonts :-)
Approximate height 7 cm - 2,55" - the width varies
The finished numbers and signs are like patches to iron, glue or sew on all kinds of projects
These numbers and signs are single designs - each comes in 7 formats - and then also gathered more for hoop size 20 x 20 cm (8 x 8"), so that you can make them all in 2 hoops, if you wish to do so
You can also gather the letters you need to make your favourite words in larger hoops and eg. colour sort ...

The freestanding satin ’Patch edge’ around each number/sign is dense and at
the corners extra dense, so be sure to use a new needle when you make
them - also a sharp, pointy pair of scissors – preferably with a curved tip is an
important tool, when you cut them out – and a neat trimming is essential
for making nice, crisp letters
You can make them in different kinds of materials of a certain weight –
eg. medium weight fabric, felt, faux leather, cork, vinyl (not too stiff and
sturdy, though)
IF you wish to make the freestanding number/sign patches with lighter
materials, like eg. Patchwork fabric or batik, you’d have to stabilise that
fabric before start – e.g. with an iron-on quilt batting or an iron-on
vlieseline – as shown in this tutorial on the photo pages
PLEASE NOTE! I do NOT recommend making these freestanding Numbers/Signs
in stretchy, flimsy or openly woven fabrics, unless you stabilise the fabric
as written above – NOR do I recommend making the numbers/signs in too heavy
or stiff materials (fabrics, felt or vinyl…) as they will be hard to stitch AND
trim/cut out
You can also embroider the numbers/signs directly on a project – e.g. the back of a denim jacket – note then, please… that the satin edges are heavy and I recommend a thicker needle in your machine
